In 1964, the Swiss Canadian Mountain Range (SCMRA) was founded in Coquitlam, British Columbia. On October 5th 2014, thanks to the hard work and dedication of so many, we will celebrate our 50th Anniversary.

To commemorate this milestone, we decided to hold a special 50th Anniversary Shoot. In early 2013, event organization began by inviting shooting clubs from across Switzerland to participate in a 300 meter rifle competition.

Regardless of their individual scores, names were drawn from all those whom participated. The event was structured in a straight forward manner — so that the total number of draws was proportionate to the total number of entries.

When the anniversary shoot was first initiated, we could not know how many entries we would get. Like so many endeavours, it was a gamble, so we simply put it out there then waited….

But by the deadline, due to significant number of entries, a total of nine contestants names were drawn for an all-expenses seven day trip to Vancouver.

On October 1st, 2014 our Swiss winners will fly from Zurich to Vancouver. On October 3rd to 6th our nine winners will shoot and compete with us here in Coquitlam. Together, they will help us commemorate this anniversary and partake in the numerous activities and festivities planned for this special event.

We hope our Swiss visitors will have a marvellous time in Vancouver and return to Switzerland with only the most splendid memories.

Many Thanks to the Swiss Shooting Federation and Bruno Huber for his organizational efforts on the Swiss end.

Sincerely,

René Zollinger
